Los Alamos National Laboratory Sensing & Evaluation Workshop

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) leadership has identified sensing and evaluation as a strategic partnership area in the context of supporting the signature institutional commitment to advanced manufacturing and prototyping. This partnership opportunity and others like it have been identified to further LANL’s national security mission.
To facilitate these partnerships, a collaborative research workshop series has launched via the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) National Laboratories Office (NLO) to help identify specific needs, corresponding capabilities, and expertise throughout TAMUS for developing key elements to a strategy.

Sensing & Evaluation Workshop

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) departmental hosts include the Associate Directorate for Weapons Engineering, Staffing and Professional Development Program Office and the National Security Education Center, University Collaborations Office.
This workshop’s purpose is to identify means and topics for strategic partnerships, research engagement and workforce development between LANL and TAMUS in the area of sensing and evaluation for advanced manufacturing and other national security applications.
Topic areas will include:
• Sensors and sensing environments
• Material characterization and nondestructive evaluation techniques
• Process monitoring and in situ data collection
• Big data, machine learning, and visualization
